A double steel door is two leaves sharing a single frame, usually with one active leaf and one fixed leaf locked by a cremone bolt. Done right, the stiles meet cleanly with a reveal under 1/16″.
Standard configurations
- Equal swing: 36″ + 36″ (72″ total) up to 48″ + 48″ (96″ total)
- Unequal swing: 24″ + 36″ for narrow openings that still need wide access
- Active leaf with lockset; inactive leaf with cremone bolt
- Astragal and gasket seal between the two meeting stiles
Build details
- 14-gauge steel frames with fully welded corners
- Dual-pane low-E tempered glass — dozens of grid patterns
- Weatherstripping on all four sides, including between leaves
- Concealed ball-bearing hinges or exposed barrel hinges
Finish choices
Matte black is the most-ordered color, but we run bronze, graphite, white, and custom RAL finishes regularly. For exterior applications we spec a zinc-rich primer under the polyester powder-coat to fight oxidation even under irrigation overspray.
