Steel Windows

Steel Operable Windows

Steel windows that open — casement, awning, hopper, or tilt-turn. Real ventilation in a period-correct profile.

Steel Operable Windows

Old-house steel windows used simple friction hinges. Modern operable steel windows use European-grade multi-point hardware for weather sealing and security, wrapped in the same thin profile that made classic steel windows iconic.

Styles we build

  • Casement (side-hinged, full outswing)
  • Awning (top-hinged, bottom swings out)
  • Hopper (bottom-hinged, top swings in)
  • Tilt-turn (casement and hopper in one unit)
  • Single and double hung (traditional up-down)

Hardware

Roto or Maco multi-point mechanisms, cam-action compression against a continuous EPDM gasket. Handle is a lever in matte black, bronze, or custom-matched finish. Push-out versions are available for that pre-war look.

Glass and seal

Same insulated low-E glass as our fixed windows. The seal is a continuous EPDM gasket around the sash, compressed by the multi-point hardware.

Size range

Up to 4′ × 7′ on casements, 5′ × 4′ on awnings, larger on hoppers (weight pulls the sash into the frame). Heavier sashes get ball-bearing hinges rated for the load.

Typical applications

Anywhere you need real ventilation — bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, home gyms. Also required by code for bedroom egress.
